Why do I refer to my mentorship as active? ...because it is. The doulas in my mentorship program receive individualized attention, just like my clients. More than twenty years as a doula combined with all my other experience have created a whole lot of know-how and (as important)--contacts. If I don't know the answer to your question, I can guarantee that I'll know someone who does, and likely they're a top name in their field.
Whether you’re a professional doula or not, I can be there for you.
I want to share with you the history behind this mentorship program. I’ve been training and actively mentoring doulas for 18 years. I consider ongoing mentorship of my trainees to be an integral part of my role. Once I’ve trained a doula, I want to see her thrive—I want to see all doulas thrive, whether I trained them or not, regardless of what organization they may have trained through. Last year I facilitated 17 workshops! That’s a whole lot of doulas. Everyone leaves with my email address and phone number, and a message to please keep in touch. That’s a message from my heart. I mean it.
So what happens? I do hear from a great many of the doulas I’ve trained. Most often in the first weeks and months, but also with some regularity a year or even years later. Often people are calling just to check in, to offer an update. Or they have a quick question. Five or ten minutes once or twice is easy to manage. It also helps me to keep my finger on the pulse of the experiences of new doulas, which in turn leads to better trainings.
Some people want more. Some people need more. They need more to feel confident. They’re not forms people and are struggling with the certification process. They’re not business people and their challenge is to market their business. Or they are just people who enjoy and prefer a touchstone—a doula. That is the inspiration behind these mentoring programs.
What else comes with the mentoring programs?
As I’ve mentioned, in addition to myself and my experience and knowledge, I have a whole lot of connections: local, national and international. I can connect you with others who will help you on your journey. So you’re accessing my rolodex, as well as my time.
My for additional offerings are plentiful and I can't wait to complete the next task. In addition to the resources I’m providing at no cost here and here, I will be creating additional documents and tools that will be made accessible only to active mentoring program mentors. I’ve also started making Youtube videos! Here are the first couple—again, these are available to the general public, but there will be a separate Youtube channel accessible only to members.
Do you have other ideas and suggestions for how I can support you and other doulas! I’d love to hear them! Send me an email.
